Google Maps lets you share a list with a link, but it has no Download button. To get the places as a file, share the list by link, save it in the Google account where ExportMyMap is installed, and export it there. It works the same for a friend's list and for a list in another account of your own.
Already have a link? Skip to Step 6.
Part 1: Create the share link
Do this on a computer, signed into the account that owns the list.
Step 1: Open your saved list
Go to Saved, then Lists, and open the list.
Step 2: Click Share, then Send link to view

Step 3: Click Get link to share

Step 4: Confirm with Get link
From now on, anyone who has the link can see the list.

Step 5: Click Copy link and send it

Part 2: Save the list in the other account
Step 6: Open the link and click Save
Check the profile picture first: the link must open in the account where ExportMyMap is installed. In some versions of Google Maps the button is called Follow.

Step 7: Check that the list is in Saved
Open Saved, then Lists. The list is under Lists you saved.

Part 3: Download the list
Step 8: Open ExportMyMap and pick the list
Install ExportMyMap from the Chrome Web Store, open Google Maps, and launch the extension. The list is under Your saved lists, labeled Shared by with the owner's name.

Select it, wait for the scan, and download CSV, Excel, KML, GPX, or PDF.
Export unlimited lists free — up to 5 places per list. A paid plan removes the per-list place limit.
If something does not work
- The link says the list is unavailable. The owner made it private again. Ask for a new link.
- The list is not in the extension. Make sure you saved it in the account that is active in Maps, then reload the Maps tab.
- The list is Starred places. Google does not allow sharing it. See how to share Starred places.
The file is a snapshot: scan the list again if the owner changes it. More on this in the guide to exporting a list someone else shared with you.
