Demo: Export Google Maps Saved Places to PDF, CSV, KML, and More

56 seconds · Narrated · Recorded in Chrome on google.com/maps

What the video shows

One complete run, from a browser with nothing installed to a list of saved places downloaded as a file — no cuts, no setup hidden off-screen.

0:00 — Install the extension

After a short title card the clip opens on the ExportMyMap listing in the Chrome Web Store and the extension is added to the browser. The install page that follows shows the two things worth doing once: pin ExportMyMap to the toolbar via the puzzle-piece icon, and open Google Maps. There is no account to create and no permission dialog beyond Chrome's own.

0:28 — Open a saved list

Google Maps appears with the saved-lists sidebar open — Saved places, Starred places, Want to go, Favorites, and custom lists like Travel plans all sit there together. The extension opens as a panel over the map rather than as a browser popup, so clicking around the map or switching tabs does not close it. The places in the chosen list load into the panel one by one, each with a checkbox, so you can drop the ones you do not want before exporting.

0:38 — Share as a link

The first export is a shareable link — a short exportmymap.com/s/… URL that opens the list as a browsable page. It can be copied or opened in a new tab straight from the panel, and whoever receives it needs no extension.

0:42 — Download as a file

The rest of the clip steps through the file formats: KML, GeoJSON and GPX for mapping tools, GPS devices and hiking apps, then Excel, CSV and JSON for spreadsheets and scripts, alongside the print and PDF layouts. Each one downloads straight to the browser.

Start to finish it runs under a minute, which is the point of the recording: nothing is typed in beyond picking a list and picking a format, and no Google Takeout request is involved.

Try it yourself

The written version of the same flow, with every format explained, is in the export guide. The extension is free for your first two lists, up to 10 places each.
